Choosing a new therapist can be difficult. I will try to make you as welcome and comfortable as possible.
Many of us feel we have issues such as 'anxiety', 'depression' or 'damage'. The person-centred approach provides an opportunity to explore your own unique circumstances regardless of any labels or what other people may expect of you. Each person is completely different and responds to life challenges in a their own unique way. I believe that many people can benefit enormously from this gentle and effective form of therapy, which is backed up by years of research and continued improvement in training and practice.
The Gottman Institute has developed a research based approach to couples counselling which combines well with person-centred philosophy. It focuses on building on strengths and combatting challenges with tried and tested methods regarded to be the most helpful.
Dawn Blake has a Masters degree in clinical counselling from the University of Chester, is a registered member of the BACP and has completed stage 1-3 certificates of the Gottman Institute for couples counselling.
I have been able to help a wide variety of clients from all walks of life. I worked in a commercial environment for many years before training in psychotherapy from 2016. This allows me to bring a wealth of life experience into formal practice. I do not judge my clients and strive to provide a relaxed and caring atmosphere whilst being committed to helping you get the most from your therapy.
If I do not feel I am the right therapist for your needs, or cannot match your schedule, I will do my best to refer you to another appropriately qualified practitioner.
Choosing a member of the BACP, or other leading counselling or psychotherapy organisation, means that your therapist will have undertaken rigorous training to verified standards.
It also means that you can expect high standards of ethical behaviour to keep you safe. During your therapy you should expect non-judgement, sensitivity and support. There are also many other safeguards in place to ensure you receive high standards of care.
Anyone can describe themselves as a counsellor in the UK with absolutely no qualifications. Find out how you are protected by choosing a BACP member.
